Latest updates on PIA flights resuming from UK to Pakistan
Many people are asking when PIA flights will resume from UK to Pakistan. Here are the latest updates and everything you need to know about the current situation.
On 16 July 2025, the UK Civil Aviation Authority officially removed Pakistan from the safety list. This was a big step forward, as it means Pakistani airlines can now apply to operate flights to and from the UK.
After this news, PIA announced plans to resume direct UK–Pakistan flights from 14 August 2025. However, PIA's operational permission is still pending, so it does not seem likely that flights will actually start from that date. We are still waiting for the final approvals before any tickets can be sold.
The UK government must remove the ban (✅ done on 16 July 2025).
After the ban is lifted, the airline must apply to the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for permission to operate UK–Pakistan flights. (🔄 Currently in progress)
The airline needs to set up ground handling, baggage services, catering, and airport staff at UK airports.
Airlines must get official landing and take-off times (slots) from airports like Manchester, Birmingham, and London.
Once slots are confirmed, the airline releases the flight timetable for UK–Pakistan routes.
Flights and fares are loaded into the GDS (Global Distribution System). From this point, PIA-authorised travel agents like Ontime Travel can sell tickets.
Right now, PIA is only at stage 2 – applying for UK flight approvals. Another Pakistani airline, Airblue, is also applying to start UK–Pakistan flights. This means there could be more travel options soon.
There is no confirmed start date yet. Although PIA announced 14 August 2025 as the target date, approvals are still pending, so flights are unlikely to start on that day.
Not yet. Booking will open only when flights are added to the GDS system and confirmed by PIA.
Prices will be announced when flights are scheduled. Fares will depend on season, demand, and availability.
PIA may be the only Pakistani airline offering direct Manchester–Pakistan flights when it returns, but other airlines (Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Etihad) fly with one stop.
