PM calls off trip to Europe over volcanic ash

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called off his scheduled visits to three European countries because of the air traffic disruption caused by the Icelandic volcanic ash.

According to sources, Gilani was due to visit France, Belgium, Spain and European Union headquarter Brussels.

The sources said the prime minister had to cancel his tour due to the situation arising out of Ireland’s volcanic ash, which caused the closing of airspace most of EU countries.

UK to Pakistan flights cancelled until Monday afternoon

National Air Traffic Services (NATS) have now confirmed that UK airspace will remain closed until 1900 Monday 19th April at the earliest.

As a result all arriving and departing flights from/to  Manchester/Birmingham/London / Bradford and Glasgow airport remain suspended until further notice.

 All PIA and Airblue flights to /from UK  cancelled until Monday afternoon.
