Chile’s major tourist attractions have not been affected by the recent earthquake

According to details released by Chile’s Tourism Office, the country’s main tourist attractions have only suffered superficial damages due to the recent earthquake which occurred on 27th February and will continue to operate as normal.
Easter Island, Patagonia and the Atacama Desert are just some of the areas which have not been affected by the recent seismic events. On the other hand, the northern area of Lagos, close to Concepción has been one of the areas which has been most affected by the earthquake. Thankfully, the southern areas of the region such as Pucón, Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt are showing business as usual with regard to their tourist activities. The areas of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar have only recorded slight damages to their older buildings.
The Tourism Office has also added that telecommunications, electricity supplies and public transport has all been re-established and is running as normal within the city of Santiago.
